Projects

Here you can find useful information regarding the projects that Elephant Jobs are involved in.

We continue to run a wide range of projects, grouped into three main areas:

·           EJ Enterprise & Employment  - supporting small business, social enterprise and business administration skills;

·           EJ Environmental (CRISP) - supporting urban recycling and sustainability;

·           EJ Resource Management - developing and managing local community resources, in part providing support to our other Elephant Jobs projects, but also to other local groups and organisations.

All of our activities are covered by our newly defined Charitable Objects which reflect the range and diversity of our current activities,

OFFERS

OFFERS Ex-IT - a voluntary and public sector partnership project between Elephant Jobs and the London Borough of Southwark to develop infrastructure and provide services to collect and divert Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) from landfill through Reuse/Recycling.  Collected items are diverted from landfill through reuse/ recycling in compliance with the EU WEEE Directive, and good quality furniture and computers are distributed to voluntary sector organisations, small start-up business, and socially disadvantaged members of the community to maximise the social benefits of recycling. Over the year 2008/9 OFFERS/Ex-IT collected over 297 tonnes of ICT and equipment, of which 98% was diverted from landfill.

If you are just moving office we can still help with the logistics

Halls of Residence Reuse Schemes –

CRISP was asked by the Property Management and Development department of Kingston University to collect all the remaining furniture fixtures and fittings associated with the Rennie Halls of Residence for either reuse or recycling prior to its demolition in the summer of 2009.  930 Items of furniture fittings and electrical equipment were collected from the Halls of Residence prior to it’s planned demolition.  A total of 14 tonnes (14,003kg) of furniture fittings and electrical equipment was collected 99.1% of which was either Reused or Recycled with only 0.9% going to landfill.  Full report

This summer 2010 CRISP will once again be working with the management, staff and students living in halls of residence across London, helping them to donate their unwanted goods and materials encouraging reuse and recycling and preventing valuable resources from being sent to landfill at the end of term.

Last year CRISP worked with 38 university halls of residence providing accommodation to 8,962 students from over 14 different universities located in 10 inner London Boroughs.  Over the period from June to September 2008 the project collected 23.98 tonnes of unwanted goods and materials for reuse, collecting the equivalent of 0.69 tonnes per hall and out performing last year’s project.

Students donated clothes, shoes, duvets, kitchen equipment, CD"s, books, furniture, household electrical items, IT equipment and non perishable foodstuffs.  The vast majority of these unwanted goods and materials were diverted for reuse 65.1%, while 22.2% were recycled.
